AOC Calls Out Suspicious Stock Trades in Congress Amid Tariff Fiasco
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) slammed the passing of President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful" bill, which cleared the Senate on Tuesday and made its way back to the Lower House.

"JD Vance was the deciding vote to cut Medicaid across the country. An absolute and utter betrayal of working families," the lawmaker said in a social media publication.

Vance had to cut the tiebreaking vote after three Republicans rejected the bill. They are Rand Paul, Thom Tillis and Susan Collins. All Democrats voted against the initiative.

Axios detailed that Sen. Lisa Murkowski ended up supporting the bill after multiple rounds of overnight negotiations. She didn't specify why she changed her vote. Parts of the bill (taxes, border and defense) now have to be passed in the Lower House, where the outlet noted that "discontent has been building for days."

Conservatives are criticizing how much amendments will add to the deficit and moderates are expressing concern about cuts to Medicaid. The Congressional Budget Office estimated that the bill will add some $3.3 trillion to the national debt over the next 10 years and that nearly 12 million people will be out of insurance in the same period. The White House says it will decrease it by $5 trillion.

House Majority Leader Mike Johnson is calling Republicans back from recess and seeks to vote on Wednesday to get Trump to sign the bill before his July 4 deadline.

"House Republicans are ready to finish the job and put the One Big Beautiful Bill on President Trump's desk in time for Independence Day," Johnson said.
